$300 per course. If you qualify for reduced lunch, $150.00 per course; if you qualify for free lunch, courses are free
*All courses are 1 credit, meet the State requirements for graduation, go on the student's transcript and will be included in their GPA.
This course is designed to provide students with the basic skills and information needed to begin a personalized exercise program and maintain an active and healthy lifestyle. This course combines online instructional learning with student participation in weekly cardiovascular, aerobic, muscular endurance and other activities/sports. In this course, students will learn the benefits of physical activity, as well as the techniques, principles and guidelines of exercise/sport to keep themselves safe and healthy.
This course focuses on students’ ability to learn and improve their critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills as they relate to health promotion and disease prevention within the six adolescent health priority areas identified by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). We encourage students to take responsibility for their personal health as well as to advocate for choices that enhance personal, family and community health. The six units that will be covered are; health literacy, first aid/CPR, nutrition, mental health, alcohol and other drugs, and human sexuality.
